How are you using your mpc(60,1000,2000(xl),3000,4000)!

I myself would like to know what mpc your are using and how you are using it in your studio set up. I think something like this will clear up why somebody should look at each and every model akai has put out differently. I think depending on the type of music your creating or sampling each mpc can be over kill or not enuff. Some mpc's have a story behind them that may lead somebody to think that this mpc is for them when its not. I just wanted see for what and why yall use the mpc yall have.

I guest ill set this off first. I have a mpc 2000 xl with 8 outs and full ram and i dont really sample nothing other than one shot hits like drums and small sounds. I pretty much use my mpc as the center or the brain of my midi gear(nord lead rack/motif es). I use the mpc pretty much like a drum machine so i dont really care about what it lacks in time stretch speed or bpm matching. I love you can use 4 programs at one time cause that means i can make a kit with 32 snares and 32 kicks and the same thing with percussion sounds and effects and misc. sounds and do alot. Right now i have so many sample sounds with this or that effect that i see no need to have on board effects but it can be added. If i could just add one thing the my xl i would add be able to resample muiltple layer sounds to one new sample from in side the mpc and not have to use a computer. I sometimes have gear lust of wanting to buy a mpc 4000, 3000, or what ever out there becasue of the hype around it but when your only using the thing for a drum machine that you can alway re fresh the sounds i see no point. All my drums sound fit damn good on a 100 mb zip.

All the drums and one shot samples are sequenced with the MPC which is slaved to PT where everything else is done with soft samplers and soft synths.

2000XL!!

Got the 8 outs, max ram. No effects but think about it sometimes. Also got a 4.3 GB HD on it.

Turntable
Really bad DJ mixer
Roland VS-840EX

That's it!

As you can see the MPC is really all I have so I use it for EVERYTHING! I sample whatever. I timestretch chop and all that on the MPC. That's all I use. Good enough for me and what I want to do at this point.

MPC 60 Mk I.

All Drums, some bass and other samples, 8 outs and mains hooked up to a mixer, mains as effect output using the echo send feature. foot pedals triggering play stp and overdub.

Sequencer sequences everything ( I left cubase midi in the dust after the 60)

Slaved to computer for recording in nuendo (audio only, everything separate.

Main songwriting tool and inspiration.

i use the mpc 2kxl as the main sequncer with it controlling ableton live. I sample with wave lab and use recycle to cut and filter. i then send samples into ableton using battery, intakt and some other vsts wtih it. i also use ableton to route all my hardware midi gear so the mpc can sequnce it too. Then to record, i slave ableton to my mpc and record all midi data and im done. but all and all ableton makes it so the pc is a sampler/synth/sound module.

i use a classic 2000 with the eb16 effects card. Thats all i use to make my ish. for recording, i use a roland vs890. I have my mpc midied up to my multi tracker, just to synch up the tempos (so i can come back and resequence the beat, or do a remix)

2000 classic with efx bd. If anything needs time stretching or pitch shifting I use Soundforge with the Waves Bundle on the laptop. Sample almost all of my sounds from vinyl into the MPC. I basically use the MPC for EVERYTHING. Love that 16 levels . Track to the Roland VS-1680 with external burner.

not sure what you mean. my ish goes straight to cd from the vs. For the tracks on my album, i brought that cd to the same studio that i record sometime, and mastered them from the cd. im pleased with the results.

young keyz you talk about being able to have 4 programs running at once within a sequence, is this possible on 2000 classic this would really make things easier for me.

I use a 1k for all of my sampling, and sequencing and I trap it on an aw16g. I have an ASR-10 sitting around, but I bought it to early, so I just use the 1k and turntables, and I have a roland module for bassline and sound effects, and the occasional chords that I'm learning. For me my MPC is the most important part of the setup.

I use a 2000xl with 8 outs as a main sequencer. All the kicks and snares are from a tx16 (12 bit baby). All the other percussion is in the mpc.
Recording it in Cubase, and running a few softsynths as well.

Sorry i cant answer that question cause i never use the 2000 classic.

yo u use DRUM 1 thru Drum 4 down by where it says track. setup ur programs in program mode. this is for both.

2000xlse2, full ram, 250mb internal zip, scsi HD, SCSI CDROM. Not midi'd to anything at the moment.

Can't remember last time I sampled INTO the MPC. I usually rip from CD's, rip from Triton via PC, toss samples onto ZIP disk and load into MPC.

Usually I make my beats on MPC with no other equiment attached, stand alone. I like to concentrate on one peice of gear usually and challenge my self.
