Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hello,

I'm currently in the process of upgrading my old 2KXL. I have my Zipdisks full of some good ol' samples but they are the .SND mpc file samples and I don't think they can be read in a zipperdrive on my PC. I've been looking at some stuff and I'm really stumped at trying to figure out how to get my sounds from my Zip to a card reader format.

Without having to start all over again from square one, what do some of you good folks recommend? Or what are you doing to transfer your old samples to the new format?

Thanks!

I went from floppy to zip to mcd in my 2kxl. I had an internal zip on my pc. I always formatted my zips on pc specifically so the zips could be read on pc and mpc. I was able to store all of my mpc zips on pc. I also had an internal mcd drive in my pc. Wehn I went to internal mcd in 2kxl I was able to transfer all my zip stuff to cf card and load it into my 2kxl again via the 2kxl mcd. Easy when I always formatted my zips and cf via pc. When you format via mpc pc's can't read the media and your stuck.

Thanks for the advice,

I'm trying to get all my samples on a card so I can get them on my computer. Since I have the Maschine and the MPC I want the both to be able to work together off the same stuff depending on what I want to do. You'd be surprised how similar they both are, and how very different they both are.

So you're saying I can format a Zip for PC use and save it on an external Zip drive and just transfer or save my new kits on the PC formatted Zip and then load that up into my PC?

Would that also work the same if I brought a SCSI external card reader? Like can I save my sounds to it and transfer the data to my PC?

Funny thing is when I had my computer built I had them put an A: drive on it just for my MPC so I could swap disks, then they came out with the Zips and I was like Aww man!

Format your zips on pc via fat.

Format your cf cards on pc via fat.

Use no longer than 8 character filenames.

You'll be able to use the zips/cf in the pc and mpc.

I do this all the time with a single 512mb lexar cf swapped between the 2kxl, pc, triton extreme. On my cf all my samples for all machines are 44khz/16bit waves.
