Sounds that play back are different from samples recorded.

I assigned samples to pads and then recorded them over a sequence on my mpc, but when it plays back, the samples are different sounds than the ones I assigned. How do I fix this? I started my beat with a bass program, but then loaded samples to pads to replace some bass sounds. Some of the new samples play back after being recorded, but some of them play back as bass sounds instead of the samples I recorded and assigned.

The bass I part I used for my song was in B, the drums in C, and I put some chopped parts of a song in D. Its the song samples I'm having trouble with. I tried loading the samples that wouldn't work to C, but if they did play instead of playing bass sounds, they played in irregular pitches.

MODE + PROGRAM, adjust your pad settings.

I browsed through Program mode, and I would hit a pad that would record properly, then hit a pad that would record improperly in Program mode to see if there was any noticeable different in the Program settings, but it seemed the same as far as I could tell. If I need to change something in Program mode, I don't know what specifically.
