JAH,
your candidate for sainthood says the following re the mpc5000 os, in the 'Andy Mac open to discussions' thread:
>>>>>
1. 2. This is a question of resourses, as I mentioned before. I agree with you, as I said before, and I've been product manager for about 3 months. All i can officially say is it's my priority for us to be better about this. An update is on the plate, and is in process, and I'm sorry I cant promise a date, only that it's coming.
so he PROMISES that its coming

(nothing about maybee...its a DEFINITE)
surely you beleive Saintly Dan?
and as you say, backing up my point....the mpc5k is not a priority for akai....why should anyone buy a flagship model which isnt even a priority, and which is in need of an os update?
ps why do you think they havent even bothered to mention what the new os will contain? possibly cos they found some well dodgy bugs in there e.g. timing ...and they cant let it out...cos it will firghten off potential buyers

....quite bizarre really...
>>All i can officially say is it's my priority for us to be better about this
doesnt seem to be much of a priority this time round either....unfortunately
JAH wrote:gertie wrote:the mpc5000 improvements? compared to the mpc500? Its a step down from the mpc4k
why should anyone support the mpc5k? akai dont.
they have committed to bring out a new os for the mpc5k....now why would that be, do you think JAH? Cos its the finished product?
The timing on it sucks, compared to the mpc4k or mpc3k,
In case you forgot, the mpc5k is NOT a priority for akai....generating hype for the mpc controllers is
according to blue haze, akai are dropping the harware standalone range altogether...even thought they havent come out and admitted so.....so what type of killer new os do you think akai will provide for the mpc5k...i wouldnt get my hopes up....
creating music without limitations? lol....probably some of the best music has been created due to limitations of machines, it forces one to be more creative
Why do you want Dan to replace saint Jude?
Why would anyone support the 5K? I would think those individuals wanting a hardware MPC would and should. It would tell Akai that people are still interested in the hardware platform. If you feel the MPC 5000 is a terrible workstation, what makes you think another hardware MPC would be even better? I have yet to hear an official word that the MPC 5000 or 1000 is dead. There have been several mentions that the MPC 5000 may receive an update. No time line has been given as the new line of MPC controller + MPC DAW are a priority for Akai.
Of course some will tie that same argument in support against the MPC DAWs. But its a completely different situation in my opinion. Akai doesn't have to deal with the limited power of a hardware's CPU, RAM, and OS. Resources are virtually unlimited when you can create an MPC application to run on Win and OSX.
