Lots of different versions in there, 10k 78rpm version sounds better than expected, but I noticed the emax output is really low comp. to sp12, and it seems to be more delicate when over-driving the sample input, goes into ugly noise faster than the sp. That drumloop is f*ucking nice, takes lowfi emaxifying really well.

Two programs from akai cds loaded into each, same midi tracks in 4k used for both, both recorded through same buzzy mixer... but, you can stlil make out which is more hifi/sweeter. Stereo imaging ... no competition.

On the Piano, I Noticed a weird looping glitch on the S1100, can hear it at the end, the Akai programs are s3000 ones according to the MPC4k fileview...
So could be that the MPC is less glitchy when loading different formats of Akai Programs/samples... as I also noticed on the S1100; some of the high notes on the piano are sustained, and low notes not.. MPC didn't f'ck that up... none where sustained without a sustain pedal.

I can't play those files but usually i really like the Emax sound, it's less dirty than the Sp 12, but sounds as good in my opinion. That break is from the O'jay's- Give the people what they want, great break

I'm a lil late with my contribution and I'm still not finished (left out the TX16W) but here is the casio FZ1

There is a setting on the FZ1 that provide crossfade looping. Usually this function is used to make a seemless loop and avoid amplitude jumps around the loop-points. On the FZ1 this function has a nice bug/sideeffect. As soon as you turn on this function the sample gets a IMO nice aliasing(ringing) effect. Especially when you sampled at low rate and/or tune the sample down inside the FZ. If this isn't enough you can always use the resonant filter to add more high frequent signal and bring this ring more to the front (or decrease it by lowering the cutoff)

I really like the last setting of the FZ1 with the O'jays break.And the Emax sounds nice as usual

Casio sounds pretty good, best ringing I've heard outside of an SP.. Also impressed how it takes overdrive, the emax gives you something like distorted white noise if you crank it just slightly too much.
Bassend is clearly better than the emax, although you can say that for most samplers.

I'm impressed how it took the overdrive by myself cause usually it sounds really bad. Nasty digital clipping. But I found out thats only the case if the bass/subbass of the sampled signal is too loud. So the more I speed up the signal before sampling (in other words: shift the whole frequencyrange of the signal up), the more gain can be used cause it won't clip (less bassfrequency).

I like the low end of this sampler. The FZ1 lack the subfrequencies but the TX16W is very full sounding in the lows IMO.
The TX with the alternative OS typhoon is the most underrated sampler IMO. The typhoon is the "JJOS" for Yamaha really nice features:

Nomalize/Gain (ability to raise the gain up to 500% (and after that you can run this function again )
Samplerate-convert to every number between 3128Hz and 50000Hz
Crossfade looping
Reverse sample
Fade in / Fade out (this does not mean the ADSR but a fade on the sample edit level)
Mix two samples
Join two samples
Timestretch
Autoname sample when copying (increasing number). So copying a sample 8 times need only 8 clicks on the copy button and the samples are named SAMPLENAME1 - SAMPLENAME9
Data is saved in a lossless compressed fileformat (or as .aif). Disks can be read on the PC without modification to the floppy or floppydriver and without creating an image so backing up data or creating collection disks on the PC = no problem.

Thanks for that machiedrum sample, didn't know that thing was 12bit, sounds really clean considering.
@peterpiper, nice job on those samples, slickly edited too.. Think I prefer borats break from the casio, ol dirty better in the tx at most rates for me.

For me the tape sounds better than alot of the samplers... although a minus is the transients are dulled.. With alot of older Akais... the transients are untouchable.

V2 of the showdown uploaded (zipped wavs/flacs)... thanks to all the audio contributions we got 14 samplers covered up to now! (Credits in the info file)

The package is cleaned up/better organised.. also edited all the O'jays(borat break) audios so they are seamless like peterpipers.. I might start deleting my audios from soundcloud as they are starting to clog up my page.
