help with set up

hello fellow beatsmiths... my question is regarding my set up, i have an mpc2k with 8 outs, roland jv880, turntable and dj mixer, yamaha 01v mixer and computer running sonar with a delta 1010lt audio interface. i want take my production to the next level and add vocals and everything using sonar. before i was just running everything into my 01v into my soundscard's in and recorded everything into soundforge, now i have the delta 1010 which has a midi in and out so i want to take advantage of it. how could i sync all my equipment to multitrack into sonar and keep my 01v in the set up???

I'll give it a go, if nobody else feels like it:

Plug all your gear into the 01V (pretty obvious). Then plug the four (or eight, if you have the expansion) assignable outputs of your mixer into four of the inputs of your 1010. It's probably a good idea to plug a pair (or more, if you feel like it) of the 1010 outputs back to your mixer as well - just be aware of the routing as to avoid nasty feedbacks. Now, when recording something, just route that instrument/microphone's channel to one or two of the assignable outputs. This way, you should at least be able to record four different (mono) sources at the same time into Sonar.

As for MIDI: plug a MIDI-cable from the 1010 MIDI out to a MPC MIDI in, and another one from a MPC out to the JV-880 MIDI in. Now, you should be able to send MIDI to both the MPC (for sync) and your JV-880 from Sonar. You really should consider getting a MIDI-interface with at least two outs, so you can send MIDI independently to both the MPC and the JV. You don't mention if you have a MIDI-keyboard, but if you do, plug it's MIDI out to the 1010 MIDI in.

related question. i got a 2000xl and a trinity sound module (rack), i've been using this midi setup: out of Trinity to In of MPC, and Out of MPC to In of Trinity....i just bought a oxygen 8 controller. now i wanna be able to use the controller to controll all the notes in the trinity sound module, how do i go about doing that? i tried just pluging the midi out of the controller into the 'thru' of the sound module but that didnt work? any advice on how i go about seting this up? also, when exactly do you use midi 'Thru'?

the thru is for midi that you dont want to go to the trinity (to trigger sounds) but instead just want it to pass thru, like if you have a big midi chain.

Oh i c Doc, thanks a lot.....so if i get a second sound module, i would use the midi 2B inputs/outs right? Then if i get a third module would i just go midi 'thru' one of the other modules then?
