MPC2000XL Firmware changes?

Hello! I already did a search and could not find the answer...
Do the firmwares add any new features or fixes, or does it only enable things like MCD Readers? If theres more differences between versions, could someone explain-or link me to a thread?

Thanks so much!

Thank you for your help!

Can MPC2000XL's be downgraded by reinstalling older firmware?

yes

os 1.14 is the fully version except most CF readers will not work with it... zip and scsi stuff works fine and it can read cards larger than 1gb

os 1.20 is the fix for CF readers (mcd) that will not work on 1.14, but with this you are limited to 1gb cards... or else if you put a 2 gb card it will pretend it's only a 1gb (the larger cards still work though)

other than that, both versions are the same. If you are not using the cf reader that requires the 1.20... use the 1.14.

Hello,

Sorry to raise this issue again ...
I have a MPC2000XL , internal floppy drive original firmware 1.07 .
I want to install a Compact Flash reader in place of the floppy drive .
I understood that I needed to update my firmware. So I downloaded the 1.20 ( zip file containing a . BIN file) .
Then I put a disk in my mpc , I formatted.
Normally, I 'm supposed to copy the file. BIN firmware on the disk , but Windows XP insists on format this disk before doing any operation on it ... I'm on the window of the workstation , I double click on the disk , I immediately prompted to format . I click No, and I try to copy my . BIN and I again prompted to format .
Similarly if I take the BIN . , And I lay on the disk without even trying to display the content .

But if I put it back into the mpc , it is detected as the MPC2000XL commme format.

Several questions:
See a bad flagrant manipulation ?
I go through a USB floppy drive on my pc . Can he be involved?
Should I upgrade first to 1.14 and then 1.20 or 1.20 directly ?

Thank you in advance for your help

PS : I tried to format the floppy with my PC but MPC dont recognize it.

If the problem is due to your mpc not being able to read the pc formattes floppy then you will need to try copying the firmware to the floppy of a dfferent pc with a different version of windows OR use a mac computer. Macs can format floppies in a readible mpc format.

Depends what type/model of card reader it is, some work with 1.14 and 1.20, some only with 1.20.
