behringer auratone knock offs

anyone heard them in person?

im interested in the behritone c50a, but i cant find any reviews... (except a locked sound on sound one)

Their products are like abusive relationship, you want to believe it'll be good this time around, only to find out nothing changed.
I have their FCA202 FireWire interface, which is probably one of the few Behringer products that doesn't suck much.
To be fair, audio out is not bad, but the AD converter is bad. It is only good for playback.
Also, My brother bought their active monitor speaker, and the tweeter started to go crazy, after 30 min of use. He returned it and got a pair of Fostex active speakers, which he is very happy with, still.

I wouldn't bother. Why pay more to hear what shitty speakers sound like when you can just buy shitty speakers? I would instead buy some cheap popular or "best selling" computer speakers from a local retailer or online for far less money, if you really need a "real world reference" like what the average listener may use, as opposed to some low-end knock-off that tries to replicate that experience. That, or get a little stereo, laptop, or a pair of earbuds. If you really want this type of speaker/monitor, just get some MixCubes, since their construction is at least proven. I personally wouldn't even buy more than one of these Auratone typed monitors, if I really wanted to use it to replicate how most people are listening to music. Most people, as I'm sure you know, don't sit in between their speakers like us, so probably hear something closer to mono.

I would assume these Behringers are little more than cheap consumer speakers but meanwhile of noticeably less quality than MixCubes, even if they aren't "bad" per se. Notice the word "assume" though.

yeah, their build quality is unknown for now...

im interested in them for two reasons: closed box (so no time-domain anomalities), and single speaker (no weird phase shit)
i tend to get the top end of my mixes right using headphones, so their range until 17k isnt a problem really
bass is a problem of course... ideally, i'd complement this with a closed box woofer (preferably one with its own amp and filters) BUT idk if that makes sense with these speakers

if i knew the beringers were shit, id go for the avantones (or triple p pyramids, the passive avantones are interesting too)
but their price is just so low, i have to know!

how much are they? because they might be good for a home theater setup or the 360/ps3 television... know what I mean? (if they are extremely cheap why not.
