I recently tried out the voxengo analogflux suite.. so far not too bad. The demo mode works fully featured but... it does this thing where the sound running through it mutes for a second or so randomely here and there until you put in a registration code (then it stops doing that)

oh, and I tried the tone busters ferox plugin... not bad at all.. it does delay too which has some cool sound you can do with that... also, I suggest looking into their time machine. It is a bit reducer bandwidth reducer... it has a 12 bit sampler preset which I am guessing is supposed to give the vibe of an s950 or something... that is pretty damn neat to mess with. In fact, running a sound through the time machine (what they call a vintage sampler emulation tool.. almost even though they are not specific to any brand but you can sort of design them yourself almost) .. then run it through their ferox tape plugin.. sounds pretty fun.

i got it, but all i get is a blank interface on the plugin
i can scroll through the presets. there's a few dope one, but i prefer to tweak from scratch. every now and then a preset will work on the material i might be working on. in those cases i leave it like that, but it doesn't most of the time. hope an update fixes the issue for me.

I've not heard of this company before. I'll have to check out there other stuff if it's as good as you say.

I'm yet to download the demo so I'm hoping it works ok on my comp...

well I have used the ferox tape one they make... if they expanded that to make reelbus then it should be quite neat.. they sound pretty good.

I was actually skeptical of this plug-in at first, probably because I hadn't heard anything from this developer and I hate most "tape and warmth" plugins. Someone personally recommended that I check this one out. So, I did. After putting it across the master bus and a few drum groups, I actually thought it was pretty damned good. I then went about actually using it like I would most other similar products, to test it further. I would describe it as a sometimes flattering "tape like effect", emphasis on effect.

It's not the best tape emulation on the market that I've heard (it is for the price though) and could use a little bit more versatility but it's a great bargain and does sound pretty good, which was a surprise. I like the Professional @ 30 IPS Device Model on the master, Japanese '75 @ 7½ IPS on samples and the Swiss '77 @ 15 IPS on drums groups that have cymbals...all with a bit of tweaking of course. I didn't try the presets. It probably won't replace what I've been using but at this price it was an obvious purchase, even if for occasional use. The CPU load was negligible. The VU meters are kind of...daft. Too bad it's VST only but there are ways around that. I recommend you try it.

i'm trying this out... have you guys been applying this to single tracks or just to the master out?? it seems to be kinda hit or miss with drum tracks, but is sounding pretty nice on the master outs in some cases... i'm not familiar enough to know the best ways to tweak it, but i'm considering registering this since it's so affordable...

The times I've used it I prefer it on auxes (for subgroups) or across the whole mix. I didn't personally like it's cumulative effect when applied to multiple audio channels as a direct insert...even when applied as the first insert on those channels. Others may have liked it.

I wouldn't even use more than one or two of the Device Models I mentioned above in a single mix or project because I dislike the cumulative effect that much. That aside, it's good on certain things for sure.
