Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

When I'm hitting the pads, the drums are triggering twice. I played with
a 4000 at guitar center and that 4000 was doing the same thing. It doesn't
always happen, but when it does its annoying.

It only seems to happen at low velocities. Is there a solution for this?

Thanks

I know the problem you're talking about - I used to own a 2000XL prior to my 4000 and I suffered the exact same problem. On the 2000 there was an option to set the 'sample' to have 1 slot of polophony (ie: eg: you could only trigger it once - which helped to eliminate such double hits).

However, I don't think this option exists on the 4000 (or at least I haven't found it yet :) - my only advice is to hit the pad square in the centre and avoid using your thumbs....

sorry I couldn't be more help!

the 4000 has 64 voices of polyphony
go to program page and then edit (ZONE) and you will see the polyphont defaulted at 64
change it to 1
and your problem will be solved

It was so much easeier to do on the old 2000XL (you could either set it to MONO or POLY), Sometimes I worry about how the chaps at Akai must think about things... :)

jues the new option makes the 4k more flexible. you just got to get used to how it all works, then it's no big deal

Yeah, but change is the one thing we humans can never quite seem to embrace :)
