Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hi guys, so i bought a broken 2000 classic because it had the 8 outs and that was all i wanted from it to put into my 2000xl. When I bought it and turned it on all the lights came on and the screen was blank. After I took out the 8 outs, the mpc is now trying to boot up and scans for scsi 0-7 (because the zip drive does not work) it might have just had a loose connection to something the whole time. anyway... I have a glyph scsi drive that takes cd's but I cant make a iso image of the MPC2000.SYS OR .EXE file because I have a pc with vista and my computer doesnt have scsi ports plus i dont have the original boot disk. I downloaded the files from forat.

Does anyone have an iso image for the MPC 2000 classic that I could download? Disk2file doesnt work for me because of lack of scsi ports i have and i've never had an akai formatted disc to copy from. I'm really curious to see if this mpc will boot up externally.

hey thanks logick1, i saw that but im hoping someone has burned an iso image of one of their mpc 2000 disc that happens to also have the os on it. I don't have the necessary equipment to make my own akai formatted cd rom for the 2000. thanks.

i would want to just get a floppy drive but the guy who i bought it from i think ruined that option for me. He tried to install a zip drive. When I opened it up I saw an scsi cable/adapter inside that didn't look normal. he told me he just bought the wrong drive. but whatever. I'll have to check that option out.

Hey crossings - Are there settings I can manipulate in disk2file to create an akai formatted cd. I don't have an original akai cd rom to copy the format from. Can disk2file help me with that?

thanks guys.

P.S.- I got my hands on a zip disk with the os on it. I just need an external scsi drive now argggg!

yes... that's the purpose of the program and why i posted it.

an article online mentioned this detail for getting it to work...

check that the settings for File format are '2048 -- Mode 1 or mode 2 Form 1 Data Only', and Track Format 'CD-ROM Mode 1'. You can now go for the burn, using 'Close CD' fixation, 'Disc/Session at once'.
