Hello all,

As I now know the MPC 2500 can resample an output to add an external effect (I hope I get it right), I wonder now if there is an equivalent to direct record in JJ OS so I can add synths parts and have them sampled.

Thanks!

Yes, you have to use audio tracks for it. It's on the main screen, switching track type: drum/inst/.../AUDIO... I guess I should say it's also in the manual, but hey.

You maybe wonder how to proceed also:

you press rec/play and the sequence play recording the "record in" stereo signal into the active audio-track.

Resulting sample can be edited and it's triggered in step sequencer.

You can also chop it, assign it to a program, erase the audio track (they're events too), switch back to drum track and play it normally...

Dope! Thanks A LOT!

In fact, I'm about to buy the 2500 + JJ OS XL so I can only rely to you forum peeps to know if it can do everything I want (I've already read Akai and JJ OS XL manuals but when you can't test things it's difficult to make an assumption based on engrish).

My 2 points of concern were resampling with external effects and direct recording style to add synths parts.

Thanks y'all MPC forums peeps! You're def dope!

If you are going to buy the 2500 used then take the time to verify it functionality before you buy JJ.
This way you will know that you aren't getting bug issues from a faulty unit plus once the JJ license is installed on a unit it can't be removed.
This would mean if you found out the unit had a problem you would lose your license if you returned it to the seller or sold it.

Thanks a lot for the advice but I think I'll buy it new.

Though this advice should be posted as a sticky somewhere, I'm sure many people got screwed!
