What is Jack?

Jack Audio is extremely useful for routing Audio between software, or even between different computers over Ethernet ( Netjack Master/Slave Setup ).

With Gigabit Ethernet you are able to transfer 500 Channels of 48khz Audio over Ethernet.
Imagine you build yourself a "standalone MPC Studio" with following components:
http://www.lian-li.com/v2/en/product/pr ... x=0&g=spec ( matches the dimensions of the MPC studio and can be combined with a special Intel Thin client Sandy Bidge Mainboard and cooler, so you put the MPC Studio on top of that case and have a standalone MPC wich is connected to your main DAW over Ethernet, you won't need an audiointerface using it connected to another DAW computer )

It's similar to Rewire but it's open source, so no hassle and agreements required for Akai to implement it into their software. DAW's like Logic, Cubase, Reaper, and a lot more are supporting Jack already.
I think it's very useful for a good workflow if you can tweak the signal in your MPC Software when it's hooked up to your DAW Mixer, as adjustments of any kind are better made right in the beginning of the signal chain!
Never worry again about having only 8 outs to track out realtime, even with 100mbit/s network cards you can transfer 50 channels between DAW's!
No need for a seperate Audiointerface or expensive AD converters, use the interface connected to your main DAW computer as you hit the pads
