How to use 8 outs in MPC2000XL

Hey,
So I have MPC2000XL with 8 outs. Can I assign specific pads to the outs so I will have toms on one track, kick on another etc. Or it goes by tracks: for example track 1 = 1st out, track 2 = 2nd out. I would much prefer to assign outs to pads than to trucks, because on one and the same track I usually have snare and kick.
How does it work?
I want go to studio and do some recordings with my band, please help me out.

yes, the 8 outs works per pad, not track.

hit shift+7 and go to the mixer.

choose 'indiv'.

now hit the pad you want to assign.

now cursor up to the square above the level meter. scroll through the 8-outs there.

note that stereo samples will have to use 2 outs, so if you have stereo samples consider converting to mono.

Unfortunately I have them in stereo. Cannot I just do recording in steps?
It might take twice the time but It should work right?

you lost me.

another solution if you have stereo samples is to just use every other out - so stereo bd is out 1/2 stereo snr is out 3/4 ... and only use out 1, 3, 5, etc. (this only gives you 4 outs then)

Im trying to say that, I can do recordings in two steps for example.
First record snr 1/2, kick 3/4, hi hat 5/6, and crash 7/8. Than 2nd take and record another 4 elements ride 1/2, tom 3/4, 2nd tom 5/6, floor tom 7/8.
Is it possible?

Yeah its possible as long you turn that quantize shit the **** off.

yes of course that's possible.

im using the Alesis Multimix 8 usb. I want to know if you can steer me in the right way of connecting to mpc. I have 1-4 which are mono with 4 inputs and 5/6 and 7/8 are stereo with only 2 inputs....What would be the correct routing from 1-8 on the mpc? Thanks

Not a bad mixer if ya can find it for a hundo on craigslist mint,lol By the way should i be using stereo 1/4 cables or mono?
