Should I buy the MPC-R?

I'd rather invest my time in learning how to properly config the MPC+FL combo, eventually relying on a different DAW to host my virtual synths (Reeper is free and easy config/use).

Then, only if the system you're running does not grant you acceptable latency with a fair small buffer size, I will upgrade CPU|RAM, eventually buying an Apple

What I mean by that it's that if you like to compose with full of VSTi/FXs and you cannot lower your buffer size without getting crack and pops, the REN won't help you there.

A new PC may help you, instead. As unloading some FX/Synth during the beat-making... play a VSTi at the time, print it and leave all inessential FXs off until you tracked the beat out. This will allow you to lower that **** buffer (32/64 is a good size, 128 is still acceptable) reducing the latency and allowing you to play the soft synths 'AS IF' they were hardware units.

The MPC 2.5K can sequence your VST instruments but it has very limited control over them. The MPC Ren will have far more control over VST instruments....as you can control up to 96 parameters using Qlinks.

Should you need any large number of rotary encoders to assign, the bcr2000 goes for fairly cheap... and you can midi it up to CCs thru JJOS. That's not exactly the same thing BUT it's WAY cheaper and MORE flexible, don't you agree?

From what I gather is that he likes his 2500, he likes his FL instruments, he can't find a way to use them both.

The real answer is to use the MP as his his sequencer/sampler, and use FL as his sound module. Then Convert the MIDI/FL instrument tracks into audio tracks in his 2500.

Use that 1300 dollars that you were going to use on the REN into viable Pro Tools setup for editing

The Ren is an expensive solution to his particular problem.
