SYSEX Dump?

I did an acrobat search in the pdf. of the manual and found nothing concerning SYSEX transfers. My apologies if this was allready brought up.

Does anyone know if it is possible to use the MPC to send a midi dump of SYSEX files to something like a synth?

Most people would think the logical answer would be no since the MPC isn't designed to read .syx files, but keep in mind it wouldnt necessarily require the MPC to read the actual files rather than simply recognize and transmit through a midi out.

I have firmware I need to install on my synth but I don't have the means to connect the synth directly to my computer and I'm loooking at using the MPC as an intermediary device to do this transfer.

I've tried this on my triton and xl and have never figured it out either.

The MPC can be used to send Sysex to update synth modules under these following conditions:

1) The Sysex cannot be larger than 50k. If it is, request that it be broken into individual sysex chunks smaller than 50k. I used to do this myself for some companies long ago.
2) Embed the Sysex files into standard midi files and save. This can be done in just about any decent software sequencer.
3) Once loaded in the MPC, find which track the sysex was loaded. Usually this is Track 17 in the MPC2000[XL] and set an output [1A or 1B] for that track. Channel really does not matter for Sysex.
4) Since you will likely be using multiple Seq's with embedded sysex, create a song to play back the Seq's sequencially.
5) Set the tempo about 60 BPM.
6) Prep the outboard gear to receive the Sysex, if needed.
7) Play.

I have performed dozens of updates using this method.

yea the triton can do it i do it on mine its very simple

I was trying before with the classic, now I gotta try with the extreme, most of the menus are the same so far, but with alot of extra tabs and pages added on. I should be able to get through it and try what I need to try though.
