Hello.

Wondering if anyone is experiencing problems with file management on mpc1000 with jjos2xl.

I normally save all of my stuff after a session using "ENTIRE MEMORY-2". Recently my system has been selective about what it saves. Some program files that contain samples remain but the samples associated with the pgms are completely gone. Does anyone know why this happens? Should I be saving in a different way? Or is this a bug i the software?

In some instances, I've noticed that, while saving, a message will come up saying "File Directory Error!!!" or something like that, which seems to suggest a problem with the memory card (PNY OPTIMA PRO COMPACTFLASH 133x 2GB Card).

any help is appreciated. thx!

hey crossings, thnx for that. just wondering tho, because im saving using "ENTIRE MEMORY-2" it asks me for a Project name and whether to replace same file. How do i actually make a new folder and then save everything into it? What i normally do is go right to "A.Load" and replace everything thats in the Autoload file. Prob why Im having all these issues.

Do i call the "Project" something else? Is the "Project" the folder that you speak of.

I'm lost, this is obvious.

right before you save you can create a new folder, called "beat 2" or whatever, then save all your contents into that. one of the F buttons says New folder i think.

i dont use autoloads so it could be why your having these problems, im not sure though.

i never have these problems when im saving or re-loading.

oh sweet. please excuse my ultradumbness but what happens to the previous "new folder" that i had saved in the session prior? say i have a "new folder" called "beat 2" to use your example, that i have been working with and now im done but want to save all my changes. What happens now? Do i just open up another "new folder" everytime or do i replace everything that was in "beat 2"? Or do i delete "beat 2" folder then open up a new folder and save that way?

no, dude... use common sense... if you want to update any changes done to the beat, then you would save in the already existing folder and replace all the files... you are familiar with how computers organize files, correct? just keep in mind that the MPC by default will assign default names to samples, sequences, etc... and if you didn't create a new folder, you would just be replacing all the previous files with the same name... hence why you need to create a folder for each new beat you make...

and name your folders manually... don't just keep the defualt new folder name or whatever... again, use some common sense here...

also... no need for autoload at all.. no idea why you're assigning things to autoload before properly saving them first... please refer to your manual... it's all there. for whatever it's worth i never use autoload... it just takes up memory for no good reason. i'll load files manually when i need them.

i agree with crossings, autoload can **** off.

this is what i do, have a main folder called BEATS

in that folder i have a bunch of different folders named the names of the beats.

ie beat 1, beat 2, beat 3, ect ect.

so if i want to save the changes of beat 1, i go into teh beat 1 folder and replace the contents of that folder, keep in mind that if i made some major changes i dont know if i will keep, i make a totally new folder called "beat 1 ver2" and save everything into that.

now next time you turn on your mpc you can load up your beat 1 ver2 folder and if you dont like where you went with it, you still have your original beat 1 folder to load up.
