Hello!
I have a lingering question that has always haunted me while producing on the mpc.
I have an MPC2000xl. Whenever a sample is set to "Note Off" so that I plays only while held down, the sample gets cut off right at the next bar change. For example, I want a bass to start playing an 1/8th note before the start of bar 2 and hold until bar 2.01.00--how is this made possible without cutting off at 2.00.00?

Go into step edit on that bass track and lengthen the duration of that one note/event.

"Step Editing
The Step Edit screen allows you to finely edit MIDI data on a track or enter data one
at a time from the drum pads or a MIDI keyboard."

Chapter 4: Editing Sequences
2kxl manual page 64.

Thanks for the reply!
Unfortunately my problem here is that the start of a new bar automatically decays a note. (regardless of the set duration in step edit or params) I've ran into this problem on the mpc2500 as well.

I am trying to hold a note through a bar change

Trying changing it to poly or mono and then control the length with step edit.
