Hi friends ! I'm just trying to track out through the ADAT of my MPC connected to the ADAT of RME Multiface 2. The problem is that i just don't know how to set in my DAW (Samplitude) 8 tracks each playng a track of the MPC and then just to record them simultaneously. I know that all the DAWS have a similar settings in this situation so I guess you can help me. All my synths are plugged in the IN"s of the RME. And when I try to set a channel playing only one preset of a synth it plays all the sounds of that synth (used in the project) in one channel. I just can't separate the sounds. ON each channel in my DAW I can choose between 17 IN"S , IN (1+2), IN (3+4) etc ... and 17 OUT's - that's when the channel is in STEREO. When I choose MONO i get 18 mono IN"s and 18 mono OUT's. I tried many variations in mono and stereo but didn't find a way to separate each sound per channel. Would you help me please !

What gear are you talking about, what synths, shat mpc's. You didn't give any details on your gear, wth.

Real world example

I have a 4k with adat.
I have an RME UFX 16 chnls adat

I'll play a sampled mono kick on a drum trk1. In the mpc mixer I set trk1 as chnl1 (adat mirrors main outs ya know). In Reaper (daw) I set the input of trk1 to adat1 from the rme.

Done. I successfully have mpc trk1 adat1 -> rme ufx adat 1 -> reaper trk1.

If your sample is mono then mpc mixer routing options will be 1-2-3-4-5-6-7 or 8
If your sample is stereo then mpc mixer routing options will be 12-34-56-78.

Your sample, check your samples and see what they are, stereo or mono
That trips up a lot of people cause they don't check.

Thanks Lampdog ! I'm sequencing in the MPC three synths - Kurzweil, Korg and Roland. All the machines are connected to the RME IN's and the ADAT of the MPC5000 is connected to the RME. Kurzweil is connected to 1-2 IN of the RME, MPC to IN"s 7-8 and Roland to 5-6. That's the set up.

When you say the MPC mixer you mean the PRGMixer or the TrakMixer ? How can I select a channel to a track, not to a single pad sound ? Because you can select channels only from the Program Mixer, but this is only for a single sound . How can I select a channels to the tracks where I have melodies played from the synths. I can find a way to choose a channel on a whole track ... Or I'm missing something ?

I STILL don't know what model mpc you have? Someone with that model of mpc can explain the details of a setup. On my 4k I use track mixer, I don't know what you have.

Also the exact model of keyboards you have, maybe someone has the same keyboards and can walk you through setup.

All synths audio outs go to rme correct?

rme goes into samplitude and IN samplitude you should be able to route rme's inputs to tracks.

In the previous post I wrote the model of the MPC - 5000. In MPC5000 there is not an option to add a channel on a whole track, you have only PAN, MUTE/SOLO and volume parameters for the tracks ... That's why I'm so confused . I don't know how to separate the tracks on their own channels (1-8) so that they can be detected by the ADAT in the samplitude tracks.

Yes I have the same connections like you wrote.

I see, my bad, I was going back and forth in your post trying to catch every little and ended up missing.

I don't know how the 5k handles mixer functions. I'd check the manual and see how to route audio if it was me.

Hopefully someone with a 5k can answer up.

By the way I'm recording with this setup for years. So everything around the connections is right. I used to track out only one track at a time through the main out's because I didn't have an interface with ADAT. Now I bought the RME MAINLY for multitracking but I have no luck .

I am pretty sure that the 5k can do this, I just can't help you cause I don't have a 5k, I've never used one.

Is your rme at 48khz sample rate, that's the rate at which digital adat locks in at. Try changing the rme sample rate to 48khz. If the digital signal between two devices don't lock in you''ll get no audio, I forgot about that one.

Also is there an adat light on your interface that lights up when rme adat and mpc adat are locked?

I have one on my ufx, I don't know about yours though.

Yes I have a green adat light on my box. That shows the connection status. I don't have technical problems, but there is some setting that have to be made. I tried to change the RME to 48khz but the box is not active and is set to 44100 by default ... Damn !

And now i found an error in the manual because in the Track Mixer section it says

" Each column indicates track 1 though 16 from the left and the currently selected track is highlighted. The row at the top is the 'OUT' field, where
you where you will assign a specific track to a specific assignable output.."

But there is not such a row at the top of the track mixer ! It's on the Program Mixer (F1) only where you can choose a channel only for sound of the program.
