i've never really gotten into the swing function and i know i probably should explore it more. i think just hearing from other heads that the xl's swing function is crap compared to the 3000 just kept me away from messing with it. that and the several times that i ruined dope tracks by trying to swing without knowing what i was doing.
so i'm looking for some tips. how do y'all use the swing function? what are some guidelines you can share?

well i use about 57% for house, 60% on some elements of looser funkier beats (ie the hats) try wacking it up to 65% and use some short snappy samples for a UK garage feel- also use 502-54% to loosen up static rhythms...
also you have to think about the rhythms of the other musical elements...
