Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hi,

I just bought MPC2000XL few days ago (used one) with USB ZIP Drive (with some discs also).

So i plugged this ZIP Drive into my MacBook, to copy some samples.

After a few minutes, i see the info "Can't read this disc", so i try to format it on Mac, but every opition I try - doesn't work.

The same situation on MPC, i can't format those discs on MPC ("Wrong disc").

I have ZIP reader iOmega, and iOmega discs (100, 250mb) as well.

Please, if anyone know how to fix it - let me know.
It would be really nice of you.

Big up

What kind of zip drive is it on the MPC, internal or external, and is it a 250MB or 100MB drive (the 100MB drive cannot read 250MB disks)? Which OS version you running on the MPC?

In my set up, I'm using PC formatted disks, no problem at all both ways, the Mac and MPC2000XL read the disks fine.

I'm surprised the Mac won't format the disks though.

So :

I have INTERNAL Zip Drive one the MPC, and external USB ZIP drive (to copy my sounds from Mac).

I have iOmega ZIP 250 USB drive, and a few 100 & 250 MB discs.

MacBook can't read them, i can't even format them (on the MPC also) : "Can't allocate the memory" (Sorry for the translation - i'm from Poland).

Maybe i should download and install new system for the MPC (1.14 i think is the newest ), because i have one last zip disc working. Or maybe there is something wrong with the USB ZIP drive...

Mac OS X 10.6.8

In general I would recommend you to buy a really cheap non-hot-swap IDE<->CF
Adaptor with bezel and a 2 or 4GB SanDisk CF card. Best value for money, though you can only use 1GB.
For this you'll have to update the OS to 1.20, you can use a floppy drive for this.
It's very easy to compensate the lack of hot swap.. It's a sampler!

I have tons of SCSI/ATAPI/USB ZIP drives and about 50 100MB cartridges.
I had so many different setups all working nicely and I learned all lessons about
SCSI, ATAPI, OS versions, fuses, cables, clicks of death, blablabla..
Guess what.. the most important cartridge fell off my desk, unusable...
I backed up this one often on my Mac, but 4 beats are gone forever...

Invest 40€ for adaptor, usb reader and card and get happy...

EDIT: for the software update you can use your working disk as well of course..

I really would like to put CF reader on my MPC, because last night my last ZIP disc broke down, so that really pissed me off :/

But i don't really know WHAT should i buy, and HOW to install this on my MPC :/
