weird thing with the left speaker of my headphones

i thought the left speaker was dead/ not connected anymore because i had stopped producing sound

now, when i removed and placed back the minijack into my pc's soundcard, it 'works' again?? (erratically, sometimes its there, sometimes not)

what's going on?

Those minijacks are never very reliable.
Might need cleaning or alternatively you may have stretched the cord so much that the conductor has broken and is only sometimes making contact.
If you can solder, cut the plug off + a few inches of the cord and solder on a new minijack. Most times this will cure it.

strange: if i tilt my head, the sounds gone... so i ont think its the minijack!

uhu, thats why i flipped L and R around, same problem

when i get at my parents', ill screw it open, look at the wires.. perhaps annoy someone to solder it for me

Yep! I have the MDR-V150s... two pairs now, one given to me and one bought sometime last year. With the first pair, I snapped the plastic headband thingy so I couldn't wear them anymore, then with the second, I ripped the mini jack off in the headphone socket of my 60 hahaaaa.

I transplanted the frame of the second to the first pairs and now the mini jack has started to go. Try twisting the rubber wire bit around, see if that allows the left side to function, I know it did that with mine... now I can't use the headphones without holding the cable!

I need to get my Sennheisers from home, screw the Sonys hahaha.

Probably a breakage of the wire where i enters into the left headphone. Have had several Porta Pro's go that way, starts with random drop outs (which can be dodged by angle of head or fiddling with the cable) and ends in completely dead phone.

Sony sucks for headphones. Been using a few since the cassette walkman days and thats the biggest problem. One ear always fail due to the wires folding and crinkling from everyday use.

I got a pair of Nady Q660 and they've last me 8 years today and still not a problem.
