so after i was finally able to work out a deal with the seller, i went and picked up the SP12 turbo... in exchange i gave my korg tr-rack and 200 bucks... not a bad deal considering i got the tr-rack for cheap and that this SP12 does have the turbo upgrade...

so to follow up with all my original questions and suspicions... i think i'm just going to have to leave the SP12 as-is regarding the nail polish on it... i decided to try using rubbing alcohol first and it ended up eating away the finish [check the lower left side of the machine and you'll see what i mean]... lesson learned... if your SP12 has paint on it... just leave it there ...on the bright side, it sounds pretty damn good. the drum pads aren't very responsive [you need to bang on them for full level], so i've been controlling it with my MPC for now... but i'm loving the sound which is why i wanted one in the first place... little by little i'll start sourcing replacement parts for it... so if anyone has a spare SP12 faceplate, blue button or volume knob cap... hit me up!!

i apologize for the crappy pics... i've only got my cellphone camera for now...

don't think so... but i'd sure like to kill the b!tch that got the nail polish on it... no doubt.

maybe use a tooth pick and only dab a slight little bit onto the nail polish and leave it dry.. or acetone.. let it desolve a bit till it gets sticky.. then dab a dry paper towel piece on it.

will do... i'm definitely gonna be putting it to good use in the near future... for the time being i'm just gonna have to start accumulating a nice lil library of drum hits... i think that goes without saying ... the only downside to this machine is the long save/load times... since it came without a floppy drive, i'm just using the cassette out with my pc... at least i got that working, but it takes between 10-15 minutes just to save or load 4 or 5 seconds of samples...

then buy a floppy doofus

i paid about $36 for a 1541 mkII well used but in the box from ebay years ago...

i'm not even gonna bother with the floppy drive... i already know it takes almost just as long to save to disk as it does as a sound file that i can just play back into it... and those ol school 5.25" floppy disks are a pain in the ass to find... they also damage easily, so no point in getting one really. i'd rather get a new faceplate instead... too bad i can't find one anywhere...

why bother with a commodore drive when you can use cassette out to save to your notebook/computer?
