Hi there!

Another weird question from me.

I wonder, at the moment I only have an USB powered keyboard, no midi's nothing.. the Oxygen 25.

What if I convert the USB to midi.. lets say which these parts:: (Images)

I place this part on the Oxygen 25.

Then plug this cable in the USB

and take the MIDI into the MPC..

Will that work? Or is it really made to work with DAW / Software / Computer stuff only?

that wouldn't work... the oxygen doesn't send MIDI signal unless it's being translated by the driver... you would have to send the oxygen midi data to your computer via USB and then send the MIDI data to your MPC from your computer's interface.

What a shame, but thats why I love this forum, knowing before buying is a must.

Thank you for your answer, now I know what to do!

because if not... you may get some latency, but you could just use the oxygen and that MIDI/USB cable with your computer... oxygen to computer, and the cable to send the MIDI data from the computer's USB to your MPC [or whatever piece of gear]... all without an audio interface.

I had the Oxygen 25 with my old setup, MPD 32 & the Ogyxen 25 plus Ableton.. then years later I bought the MPC 1000.
Only used the midi stuff with USB cables, so no special gear there.

Going to buy a cheap home keyboard to hook it up with my MPC, going to try something original, if possible.

Yeah the problem is that you were only talking about adapting the different hardware connectors without doing anything about the different transmission standards.

It is possible to adapt any USB midi controller (it's still midi, but it's envoloped inside the USB standard) to standard midi by usiing something like Arduino with the USB host shield. Drop "arduino usb to midi" into a search engine if you are interested.

Personally, I would only go that route for "special" controllers since direct midi keyboards are so common, even for free. That's how I got all 3 of mine and since I don't really like standard keyboards I probably never would have gotten them otherwise.
