just did this yesterday. i have the older mpc1000 and hated the color scheme they gave (blue/red). i was trippin on painting over the the lettering and number on the top chasis, but realized ive memorized it all lol. thinking of painting all the buttons red. death star status.

sorry for the crappy resolution!

enjoy!

That looks hella clean

The jog dial is called MENTOR 539.611. There's also a version without the black line: MENTOR 539.61. You can get it at Farnell or Conrad for around 3 bucks.

The first time I really wanted an MP was when I saw this pic in a sweet water magazine:
Image

Unfortunately I was 16 and that was out of my budget, but I ended up coppin an optimus prime 1k a few years later, with playable but soon-to-be dying pads, for $200.
Last week after 3 years of this romance, I finally got to upgrading the pads, and some cosmetics. One pad upgrade and a can of spray paint later:

Image

I love the blue, but I was not a fan of the red, the rusty back plate, and the button colors....i mean purple cursors, really?

Image

I used a flat black instead of gloss. Gloss makes it too toyish still and I it makes the paint job to obvious

Image

The back plate looked like it had been on fire. Blacked it out...**** the labels, I know whats what...I just added red to the rec in rings cuz **** it why not add a tiny accent somewhere? I used a sharpie for this, came out not as shitty as I expected but still I'm now set on getting a can of red just for this

Side panels came out clean

Image

And I know you can't really ever see the bottom, but ey I open this machine up so much, I see the bottom all the time. **** it...Black it out!

someone in this or another of the custom threads said black and blue never look good but ey I'm pretty satisfied with this...plus ironically it matches me, 90% of my wardrobe is black shirts and blue jeans.

Only thing left is fat black pads which should be here thursday... That and once mpcstuff stocks those new screens, (black casing with a blue screen? :) ) Ill have completed my mpc 1000xl...cd. lol

but yeah, I've been working on this all weekend. Just needed to post up the work.

This has probably been done/seen before, its not that original of an idea but i think i pulled it off well.

Peace

EDIT:links didn't work before, they should now though, lemme know otherwise
