Thanks for you answers guys. Yes I read a few posts about the fact that displaying 149 Gb is normal.. Manufacturers just want to put a big number for storage (160Gb) business business.. :-)

Yeah I don't know why 7200 rpm would not work - does anybody use a HD with that speed.. ?

To Clipkuts : I checked your site I thnik I will go with a samsung but don't know which one yet, there is an offer on ebay.. but I don't know if it's really safe to go for it, check :

If you have any suggestions don't hesitate, I am running with JJ OS 1 on MPC 1000..

can you not find one cheaper than that? $100 (£66.00) is expensive IMO. but it does say its for the MPC, and you get a free sample CD. the sample CD could be shite but hey you have the HDD.

Go for it if you feel happy.

So, I have been looking for an answer...

I put in a 160 GB hard drive in my Mpc 1000, and it works great. However, it only recognizes 1.99 GB of Fat hard drive space.

I have not tried to reformat it, but I will when I hook it back up to my PC.

Any ideas? (most of the info online, has to do with if the hard drive will work, and not size limitations) (Fat v. NTSC, partition issues, etc??!)

Thanks!!!

I figured it out...

I had the oldest version of the AKAI OS, and it limited the hard drive to 1.99 GB. I updated to the lastest firmware and reformatted it, and it sees 119 GB for a 130gb drive, which is fine with me!
