(monolizing)MPC 2000xl 8 outputs

To anyone:

I am a new user with the AKAI Professional MPC 2000XL...
when you hold shift and press on 7/mixer, you enter the mixer. In the mixer there is an individual portion where you can select which instrument goes through which channel or output. If anyone can help me all I need to know is how to make 1/2 (stereo) into 1 (mono) 2 (mono).

go into program mode. then u goto the samples name and hit open window, where it says SND:SAMPLES NAME. then u do convert and move the data whell to the right to goto stereo to mono split, then u do it. then u have to piuck the right or left side that u just made, its creates 2 mono samples and it puts them at the end, then assign that and u good to go.

What i would recomend though is to just sample in MONO so u dont have to do this everytime. u can set it up in the sample screen. If u are using a pc to transfer the sounds analog x's auto tune does it quickly

if a sample is sampled as stereo can you still bring it to mono?

yeah thats what i explained in the first part. get the manual from akai and do a text search on mono in adobe acrobat and it shows the whole breakdown.

I always convert my sounds all the mono,not cause it saves memory but just cause when it comes time to tracking you can get alot more work done. I use sound forge to convert my sounds. I just open them up and just resave them as a mono wave. You can do this any old sound edit program too.
