Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

1.in a modern computer, you can't plug an old black and white monitor, or play an old video game, or run an early version of fl studio. so, i suppose, after a few years that computers will have advanced, the mpc ren will be unusable? (while older mpcs will work fine)

2.if there is an mpc with out cpu..then an mpc without audio i/o...and then an mpc without screen...but all these machines have that 'legendary mpc workflow' that makes them worth buying. consider the following addition to the series too.

'MPC NOTHING'. THAT would be a real rennaisance. it will be only in download version, and will just be a 720 x 576 green screen with the akai os with all the legendary features. most of us already have a midi controller to hit on some pads, an audio interface and keyboard arrows/shift/etc to transport, so we won't even have the need to touch the mouse.

see? 'MPC NOTHING'. all the legendary features and user-friendly simplicity, full pc integration, and no need for additional hardware and money. you can sell it for 50 euros or something and we are all set.

but if you don' do it i will persuade the JJoS guys to make something similar. i hope you like my idea. MPC Nothing! please support me here in the community, together we stand. we want MPC NOTHING now!

...

this is not entirely a joke. for real, i want someone to explain me how the new mpc's actually compare to my imaginary mpc nothing. if you want pc integration and mpc simplicity, why don't you just sell me the sequencer, and want me to buy another audio interface and another midi controller and all that.

If the MPC REN would be "unusable" with modern operating sytems one day, let's say in 10 years, you could still use "old computer hardware, i mean, there are still some people using Amigas or Atari ST's nowadays. The REN will most probably run on a Windows 8 or 9 x86 Smartphone build in a few years from now, wich would be as powerful as today's notebooks...

no one can explain go buy one of the older mpcs see how it works first hand then watch some vids of peeps using the ren and see how it works

then u'll have the answers u seek, ur just theorizing atm

1: when usb is no longer used, I suppose this will be an issue...

2: why not have a steam powered MPC, with IRON pads that get so HOT when youre making those hot beats you need to wear leather gloves? And since the steam powered MPC has no memory, you use tin coated punch cards like the old IBM machines...

In the end, I truly do hope you get your wish: NOTHING...

It doesn't appear the USB standard will be abandoned anytime soon. Too many companies support this format from hard drives, cameras, cell phones, audio interfaces, keyboards/mouse, software protection dongles, etc.

Personally, I would like to see Thunderbolt technology take off. And once it is proven stable..add this technology to future, if any, MPC Ren controllers.

thunderbolt hubs are already out that support usb... so really the most up to date I/O continues to keep usb alive so thats not a real issue. but like what has already been stated... if your scurred say your scurred.... a vintage computer (in the future) can be used to handle your issue... to put it in perspective. I have a commodore 64 in my studio still running just fine for vintage synthesis purposes that I can't get on newer machines.

I had a Commodore 128 back in the day. I use to play video games on it....my favorite "Track and Field" I was the shit at that game. My partners use to laugh because that had Nintendo and my games took forver to load. lol

There is a slight difference, modern computers/cpus are designed to live short lives. I'd bet against the the chance that the computer you're using now still works in 10 yrs time..anyway, the renaissance 5 will be out by then, the 5 meaning 5 times more better, with 3d goggle mode, vibration features, and endorced by Harry Potter.

Nonsense, the contrary is the case, you can get Mainboards with military grade electronic components ( especially the capacitators ) for around 150 Bucks... those will last forever...

Any Mainboard 100$ + has solid capacitators nowadays. Try to buy enterprise quality server grade harddisks for storage, take care of proper cooling, that's all i can say.

Products are designed for being replaced, planned obsolescence, true story since 80 years. But only fools buy stuff they don't need. If something works perfect for you there is no reason to buy something better unless you're a victim of marketing.

The first part of what you said sounds like a quote from a advert, when marketing people say military spec it means literally nothing, just like when they say anything.
Try to think for yourself, and not just repeat marketing babble.

I have 40 year old capacitors in the power supply of an old effect unit.. they're not even military spec, and yet are still within spec..
Good luck if you think modern disposable generation parts can be compared..

If I'm wrong I look forward to you sending me am email 10yrs from now from your iphone 4/current 'military spec' pc with a picture of your middle finger
