MPC Sounds - Without the 5000?

I'm Very new to this so please forgive any basic or stupid questions.

I own a number of Akai Samples but do not want to use the box for play-back. Is there any way to utilize them in PT or Sonar with some Soft Synth player?

if they're WAV files you can use them with any software that supports WAV files. that was easy, wasn't it?

I'm told they are a format that is related to the MPC series, needed a 5000 or something along those lines for playback.

Any ideas?

i think the mpc5000 only supports WAV and SND format files... if they're SND format you're going to need to convert them into something else like WAV first... just about all audio software supports WAV files.
