Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

So basically what I'm trying to do is adjust the velocity level in step edit. I've yet to figure out how to save the adjustment I made.

What I did first was run my sample through 16 levels > Velocity so each pad should have a part of the sample. I wanted to adjust some of the pad's starting points because some didn't sound right to me. I went to step edit and pressed a pad I wanted to edit, toggled to V: and set it at the time I wanted. I tried different things after this point but all had failed to correct the pad.

Also, the reason why I chose 16 levels to layout my sample was solely because the pads shut off themselves after I hit another pad. I've tried to chop with zones but I couldn't get the same "auto-shut off" that 16 lvls offers. Any feedback would be much appreciated!

Nevermind, I figured it out.

In the 2k, you cannot edit an individual pad if it's in 16 levels. The auto-shut off effect I was talking about are Mute groups. In the 2k, you can only assign a pad to be muted by only 2 other pads. To access this menu, go to Program, then Parameters. From there, highlight Poly. Press Open Window and you now have access to the Mute option. It's fairly easy to operate, press a pad then choose the another pad to mute it. Posting this for future idiots/stumped kids.
