I think the ability to save chord assign of pads to be saved as a separate file, or at least, not just in flash ROM is needed.
As you know JJOSXL saves chord to pad assign in the flash ROM, and it would be great if we could save and load different chord to Pad assigns in the banks.
So in chord mode you can set pads to a chord, and if you want you can save this. There is of course not enough room for every chord, and so you choose what chords and in what order. I personally map out major minor scales and found that I love how i can change bank and effectively change Key, major to minor, minor to major ect, very useful for any musician. I mean I can do say all the major scales chords . 8 chords per major scale, means 2 keys per 16 pads, nice. and of course 7,8 major scales means 64 pads, but now i want to do some minor chords scales..... hmm so i have to choose or change every different song. Very time consuming but worth it. So this means I need to request the ability to save a chord to pad assign as some kind of file. My dream request would be that you could save EACH bank (A, B, C, D) as a separate file AND name them.
THIS is taking it to next level, especially if you could merge at will as you load say BANKS A PAD Assign (I named it AmajorGminor) and I could load another Bank of chord assign to merge into next bank (say this one is named Cmj and is a bank of chords I set up over a bank) I think this might be a step too far but then again I could be wrong.
Comments please.

This also would be related to the foot switch Bank select being able to cycle as well for a can of kick ass

+1 Time consuming indeed.I think the state of the chord feature as of now is quite
crippled and could benefit and become a much more powerful feature with this addition.

yeah its very powerful to be able to key switch and have every pad reflect the same relative minor / major intervals of that scale and then other scales of major minor keys on other banks, over the pads.
If it is doable, it would be one of the best music writing tools. I mean i dont want to have any one map the chords, i can do that and will even share them. But you can work it out your self to, just takes time and is annoying that you do it every song and cant go back either to previous settings with out more time.
So have requested this now.

No sorry sootyG not really. Let me clear that I am mapping chords of every interval of different scales, and need choice, flexibilty and to save. To have some one else do it like JJ is not going to work and you can easily do it your self with the chords in the chord bank of JJOSXL. There are for instance, at least 5 different minor keys types as well so who is to say which one you use. So that means you have to make your own mapped scales of chords. I use foot switch to change major scale chords to relative minor scale of chords, that is not just making every chord minor. So first bank has all the chords for major scale I ii iii IV V vi vii VII, and second bank has relative minor scale chords mapped in same ascending order. I II iii IV V vi vii VII. I believe that is the natural minor, correct me if i am wrong. Just major scales mapped is 64 chords. then the rest.
If you have the theory, and some time, then all you need is the ability to save your chord banks. This is sorely needed from a musical view point. No need for any one to "make" a pad bank of chords for you, you just have to know what you are doing musical theory wise, and then build. Hell i even have given you the intervals of major minor. work it out yourself and learn music theory is the only way to do it. It has to be flexible like it is now, So I can make one an diminished for instance, or augmented and just needs the save and load ability. This way you can save different ones and different relations ships between banks. So for instance, can save a set of relative minor scales or a set of harmonic minor scales of chords. or the relations ship between major scales, so that i want the chords of A major followed by G major just for ease of play. you see so not a work around at all, and would not work as well and things are not really set in stone triads wise.

well, it sound like you just need to plug a midi keyboard into your mpc then! why bother trying to map every possible combination onto the pads?

No, it is not every combination at all, and I do indeed have a few keyboards and can play a little...... ITs about MUSIC THEORY and the relationship between scales and chords.. if you can figure what the second interval chord is for in the relative natural minor of E major scale is of the top of your head then you probably are a classically trained pianist.
Also if I have set up my chord banks properly, I could be told a song chorus chords are V VI I, I can then just hit pads and do it in any key. then go minor if i want. Still playing same progression in any key I have mapped. Obviously i map to a standard, ie Root is on pad one, So this means for crazy modal changes and other things, and enable very complex musical ideas to be done very easily.
You need to know your music theory, if you did, you would not say what you did.
I will have to do a video maybe for ya sooty. TRUST me, you will be loving it. will make you look like Bach.
In fact I can not do every chord of every interval of every scale because there is not enough space at all, and there is no point unless you are doing crazy stuff. I am not doing every one but I do use the circle of 5ths to relate keys and such to, thats how i relate my choices, that and relative minor scale, or harmonic, or whatever of the major. This determines the song, every song is different. I do not if you know, but the scales are how you actually determine how a chord is made, it follows rules of theory, thats way too long to go into here. So these chordal intervals and the relationships between them are very important to making music, and being able to build this frame work is fundamental part of writing music. If you grasp these relationships a whole new world will open up to you music wise. But yeah its a lot of theory. If we can get this request, then it will actually help your theory, you need to map the chords to scales intervals correctly first, but you do not have to remember the actual chord and just hit a pad, also you dont have to work out what chords are needed for different key/scale as you did it already. And hey why stay in one key?

unfortunately, everything you just said went entirely over my head because i have no formal music training or music theory knowledge whatsoever, which is exactly why i want JJ to put a bunch of scale mappings in the MPC to choose from!

i know i'm not the only one who would benefit from such a feature, tho.

The theory really means that you dont want some one else to map chords, just not a good idea, its is up to you to know what you want musically. But with the ability to save sets of chord banks means you could share them or get some one to make a set for you to load if you really want to. If it ever happens i will give you one. But you wont benefit if some one else determines what your musical keys are. blues, rock, jazz, dub, ect all their own thang going on really. so yeah just need saving so bad  , as it would make the MPC the bomb for writing music. I envision having a folder of various chord banks that are appropriate for different genres. That would be mad, and also helps me keep track of stuff to if it can be named. I still have to work it all out but means a very useful. cos you have saved all that work of complex modal changes that is music.

Disagreements in other threads aside, I like this feature idea. I have been playing with the arpeggiatior feature of the chord for drums, and being able to load and save sets of chords would be handy for this, especially since some chords make no sense in that context. That said, the bug with its timing is seriously limiting its usefulness for this.

Also, I don't think SootyG's feature would replace it. But I like that one too. It makes a lot of sense to use the MPC pads within a scale rather than chromatically. Although if that was implemented, you would probably have to recreate your chords for them to work appropriately within the scale. But this might actually be more logical, theory-wise.
