I hear often how lame or useless are the preset samples on the MPC.
Recently one of the things I have done and get a weird kick and fun out of is to ignore all my personal and/or new samples and use solely the original preset samples, and pretend they are the only samples available on earth
. Of course I work, deform, rebuild, pommel them etc. until I like them. At that stage they are virtually or totally unrecognizable, and everybody who hears the final track wonders where I got these wicked nasty eldritch sounds ...
It is sort of an internal game to show how far one could get with limited resources.
And however far you want to go, this machine sure is game ...
