I too was like you on whatever date it says I joined on the left here and I copped the e-book. Very very useful, a lot better than the manual Akai give you.

Also look at the top threads in the getting started section.

Much much knowledge there.

Good luck

http://www.mpc-samples.com/product.php/104/beat-making-on-the-mpc500/

Explains things a lot better than the manual alone and gives you useful tips & tricks!

i know this sounds dumb for me to ask but how to i insert the memory card? when insert it nothing shows up....The MPC library card...

In order to use it you will need to know the basics in the manual first, taking the time to read, browse and experiment with what you read about will give you a BIG look into how the machine wants to be touched.

One of the most important tips I found and actual trade secret is to actually name your MPC. This creates a deep emotional attachment that you would not get otherwise and increases performance from 110-200% in production. Mine is called Valerie.

Talking to your MPC helps too, whispering sweet nothings has apparently resulted in beats becoming heavier, this has nothing to do with the converters, electronics which is simply a smoke screen to hide this top tip. At the moment I talk to my MPC about the weather, just small stuff but even I can sense that my beats are much more tighter because of this.

Never ever let the MPC see you with another girl, it will get jealous and punish you for this. Symptoms can range from whack beats to just worst MPC dying of heart ache.

So yeah good luck on your purchase.
