Best way to mute carried over note on the next sequence? and

What's the best way to mute a note that carry's over from a previous sequence? is the best way to assign a pad mute, or is there a more efficent way that wont use up a pad on my program?

example: playing a bass note that's 1.5 measures in "mono" so it plays in timing with your current sequence, but your next sequence you need the bass to cut off at the start of the sequence and not carry the extra 0.5 measures?

MIDI Questions: how would I do the same thing with a midi keyboard that's attached? is the best way to go into step edit and reduce the note length? or do you set a program change at the end of your sequence to cut it off?

Where do you find is the best place to put program changes to change your midi keyboards programs? Do most people put it at 1.01, or do you put it near the end somewhere, like 4.04.94?

well if you have a mute available on a sample that begins on the new sequence that wasn't there in the first sequence.. you could do that.

Or, you could go to the D bank... assign a sample to a pad (lets say a high hat) and what I do is, I pitch the high hat up to the highest amount in tune (something like +240) and put the filter on 0.. you wont be able to hear it now.. anyways you make that mute the sound. Then in the new sequence you put the timing to 1/8 and hit the pad in on the first beat.

I like to do that with it's own track... you can then reserve that track for "mutes" on every sequence

Thanks for the tips... the only issue i have with using "note Off" is that it is much easier to get a flowing, constant bass note carry over with using "note", and using "note off" makes playing a lot of bass lines difficult to switch between different pads and sustaining the original note (due to having to hold the pad down). i might just make a mute pad for ease of use...

no input on midi functions from anyone? I'm using a micro korg to midi track some bass riffs usually. any tips for ease of program switches or muting notes thru midi? Can i assign a Pad mute to mute my midi track?

you know, I never thought to try that... because in the mutes screen it seems to take note numbers to mute other notes... (or maybe it's just the pad assigned to that note number) ... I am not sure how that works across devices and midi channels. I never ran into the need to do that so when you find out if it is possible or not.... make a post in here to let us (or me) know.
