Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

Hi mpc 4000 users,

I just bought a mpc 4000, this is the white model.
I'm using a 2500, so I have no technical issues of how to use the 4000.
But I've goy problems with the cables and the old school technology like the scsi...

I plugged my turntable directly in the mpc but when I'm going in the record menu, nothing happens, I put ''analog in'' in the imput source and I turned the button on the back of the mpc to phono...
When I'm trying to load a track from a cd with the player, it tells me ''the operation is not supported''
This machine extraordinary comparing to the 2K5 but I'm not able to put anything in it...

The guy who sell it to me was a fifty years old bassist who never find how tu use it because he was a musician and not a gear fiend, the machine is like new.

I know there has been some upgrade of the os, but I didn't found how to do it...

I'm so disapointed of not be able to make it work... Please help me!!

Peace

There's your problem right there: try war and violence instead.

The OS download and instructions should still be available on Akai Unprofessional's website. http://www.akaipro.com
If they are not, ask them.
Follow the instructions carefully: if you mess up the OS upgrade, you will render your machine unusable.

Go to expert village and type in mpc 4000 tutorials. Also, look on youtube for some tutorial vids. This might help.

You might be better off getting a preamp or mixer for your turntable and using the analog inputs.

As for loading tracks from your CD I don't think you can do it like you can on the 2500. You have to play the CD in the record screen and sample the parts you want, and if you have the S/PDIF board you can digitally sample the CD.
