Is $450 a fair price for a 2000xl?

So I'm thinking about picking up an mpc. Either a2000xl or a 1000. Is $450 a fair price for a 2000xl?

only pay that if it's maxed-out and has a perfect screen... the 1000 at that price is a better purchase though [as long as it has the new pads installed]... can't go wrong with JJOS and audio tracks...

Although I like my 2000XL, I wouldn't (cannot) pay $450 for MPC-2000XL, unless it has 8 out board, optional effect board, LCD screen without any line, no faulty drum pads, CF reader, and in good cosmetic condition.
If you are good with repairing electronics, you can get MPC2000XL with faulty tact buttons and rotary encoder. Those are easy to replace (those parts are very common, thus cheap), if you are handy with soldering iron!

I watched eBay for weeks looking to get a 2000xl. $400 Plus shipping seemed to be the going price for a quality one when I picked mine up last month. I would say $450 is fair as long as it is in good shape.

The 1000s seemed to be going for around $500 to $600. I chose the XL as I had one for 5 years before I regretfully sold it, plus I did'nt have that much to spend.

Thank you all for the help. This one does not have the fx board or 8 outs but does have the card reader and the screen is good. I like both the 2000xl and 1000 for different reasons so I'm torn. I've just got to make up my mind.

I paid £170 for mines which is around $260 ish i think, perfect screen, pads, sensors, buttons etc the only thing wrong was that the buttons had discoloration which irritates me (maybe some form of OCD lol) so for me $450 seems like id rather just wait and get it cheaper.

if you go on craigslist and are patient you can snag one cheaper. In my area (detroit) you can find em for 200-300 with a SD drive and perhaps a 8 outs board. if you have time to call two dozen people and low ball them for a month or so. The ebay route is tough cuz it's automatically a $30 mark up for shipping and then usually the avg price is a little higher as well. Best trick is to find a busted 2000 classic w/ a good screen...($100) and a busted XL w/ a bad screen ($100), swap them and you can put together a maxed out XL for $200. Very possible but this takes time and patients to find two units.
