Ren vs 5000

Okay i dont know if this was posted already but im at a crossroads while i still have my MV 8000 (sold the 8800) Im thinking about returning to the Akai fold. problem is im not sure if I want the 5000 or the Ren? i know some of the differences but what do you guys think is the better buy?

While the complete specs of the MPC Ren is not available.....

The assumption is that the MPC 5000 would be best if your #1 need is a dedicated all-in-one box that you never need to connect to a computer unless you are multi-tracking. Other than that, the MPC Ren should do nearly everything the MPC 5000 does without limitations of CPU power and Ram.

No one knows yet. The 5000 has had it's issues so do not automatically think it's the best mpc (depending on how much you want to make the right choice, I'd check the comparison threads here).
The Ren is not out yet. Rush out to buy it and you'd either be one of the first to get one (if that's important to you), or an early beta tester of a piece of junk.
It costs nothing for us to post here - only your money to buy one. So take your time.

Mpc 5k does audio tracks, mv8800 does audio tracks, but the Ren doesn't only midi in version one. Mpc 5k and mv8800 are similar as all in one drum samplers standalone. Ren will be like maschine and spark computer based. Simple comparison it will be up to you and your work style. The Ren at first was going to along the lines of a updated mpc 3k with only numerical editing but it was changed to graphic waveform editing. Actually whether it will have phrase phrases like the 5k and mv8800 I don't know.

The MPC Ren is based off of the MPC 5000 but won't include all of its features such as audio tracks in its first release. The 5K does hard disk audio tracks which is different than the MV8800's RAM based audio tracks. I am hoping for hard disk audio tracks in a future OS release for the Ren.

How about the phrase looping per pad?

Like on the 5k and 2500 you chop the loop into a patch phrase that can be played from any pad at any tempo matching with the sequencer. Like a instant ableton on the mpcs. You know what I'm talking about right even if I got the exact wording wrong

I would have to say 5000. But, since it completely flopped; buyers beware! The Ren will flop!

1. Assign a patched phrase to Pad A01
2. In Program Edit Mode, set the patched phrase to Note On
3. In Sample Edit/Trim Mode, set the patched phrase to Loop On
4. In Main Mode, hold down Pad A01
5. Press 16 Levels; set Pad A01 to Tuning
6. Press Pads A01 - A16
This may produce the results you are looking for.....

jep. go with the mpc 2500 with JJOSXL or keep your mv and make some heat.

I have an MPC 2500 with the XLCD running JJOS128XL. The Ren is a much better MPC. I can list specifics if you need more info.

If you want an MPC, get the 5000! If you are looking for a controller, get Renaissance. The 5000 doesn't require a computer. (No comparison)

You should ask opinions on what do we think and why....

Otherwise, you wil be stuck with nothing to base your deceision on other than a vote. It's unwise to base your purchase off of what this forum finds as popular.
