just copped an mpc 500 for $100

i just wanted to share my excitement
i already own a 1000 and have for about 5 years now but i saw this on craigslist

an mpc 500 for only $100
it has the ram upgrade
near mint
guy threw in some headphones
and some fresh batteries
with the original box and manual

i was originally thinking about selling it but i feel like it could come in handy, running off the batteries and all.

its in like mint condition
the dude was real chill though and probably just didn't have the time to work with it
im stoked though!!!

:o $100 bucks?!!

Thats a steal, a bargain, and a nice price.

Let us know the difference between the 1000 and the 500 meaning workflow and such, I'm not interested in cosmetics. Planning to cop a 1000 for that big ass screen by mpc-stuff :mrgreen:

I paid top dollar for mine $650 at guitar center.Oh well,it`s worth it so far except a few minor headaches.I would rather keep it forever than sell it for a stack.

yo I just got one off craigslist about a week ago for $100 also.

didnt come with box, manual, or ram but everything else is straight. Got 128 MB for about 12$ on amazon anyway.

First thing i did was open it up and put that electrical tape behind the pads. Im used to the Maschine and beatin these little pads with full force is crazy. I ended up having to put between 9 to 11 peices of tape behind the pads!!! :hmmm:

Anyway now they are perfect.

i love being able to make beats in bed before going to sleep.
just getting used to the workflow and chopping the samples on my phone first. (i dont see my self getting used to chopping samples on that little screen with numeric digits...)

I don't see yourself chopping at all on it neither.

9 to 10 pieces of tape? You know there's a Full Level button right?

odd as it is, sometimes i actually dont only want a choice between 'inaudible' and 'full level'. Of course I can go to 12 level velocity each time I want to program a drum sound... or now I can actually just play them on the pads and get the range in velocity I want depending on how hard I tap the pads. Matter of preference I guess.

edit: Oh and as far as chopping, the problem I run into is that once I set the in point then go to set the out point, if i spin too far on the out point it pushes the in point back also. If there was a way to fix the in point it would be easy. I only spent about 5 minutes w/ it before i started just pre chopping the sounds on an audio editing program on my phone before loading them in. I mean i cant imagine chopping drum breaks like this where the sounds are less than 1 sec long and the in/out points are so close together. Am I missing something?
