Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hi all,
This is my first time posting on the forums.
I need help with my mpc 2xl, i been looking into replacing my floppy drive for a CF drive, found a few drives that said they work only off of os 1.14. so before i bought one, i wanted to try out os 1.14 to see if it was something i would use. i downloaded os 1.14 from the akai site and reverted it from 1.20. but after following instal instructions it does not seem to work, the mpc does not respond to any commands and the screens text looks like code now and all lights on the mpc are lighting up. i tried to reinstall os 1.20 but since it will not respond nor can i read anything on screen i can not do so.
If anyone know what steps to override this it wold be much appreciated, this was a fully functioning mpc 2xl with no problems that i have owned for over 6 years.

cheers

hi mpc-forum.
i am new here.
i have the same or a similar problem. after updating my mpc 2000xl from OS 1.0.7 to 1.2, i had for a very long time (2 cups of coffee, 3 cigarettes) the starting screen. after that, all LEDs are lighting and the screen displays

i imported the OS update from ZIP, because the floppy is broke.
does anybody have an idea about this?

Are you sure you are loading the correct OS? The 1.72 OS is for the MPC 2000; not the MPC 2000XL.

You have a corrupt OS load and need to reload the OS. The error could have been caused by a bad download, bad disk, bad disk drive or bad flash. A reload usually fixes this.

You should be able to boot your MPC from your disk that has the OS BIN file. Put the disk in the MPC and turn it on. Once booted, reload the OS.

If that doesn't work try a fresh download of the OS onto a known good disk or with a known good drive.

If none of those options work, you will need to locate the OS Recovery ROM that Rohan used to sell. Since Rohan is unavailable, perhaps someone on this forum has one that they can lend/sell you if you need it.
