these look dope, and they take CF cards, any of you use one of these bad boys?

how do you like it? whats your personal main advantage and disadvantage of it.

have been watching some youtube videos of them and studying the specs on em, they seem to be real cheap too.

i like that they have mute groups as apposed to none like the 404, 303, 555 ect.

also, those of you that do use it, do you find yourself running out of polyphony much? it doesnt seem to have much in the way of polyphony, 6 or 8 notes at a time compared to the mpc 1k's 32 notes

don't sleep on the SP-FORUMS... they've got an entire section dedicated to just that piece of gear [as well as every other SP model]...

http://sp-forums.com/

i love my sp-303... i also had an sp-404 that i sold years back, but i've never used the 606... so unfortunately i can't really weigh in with personal experience...

and just for fun... find the sp-606 amongst all the records in madlib's room. :D

Haha yeah! The 606 is a ninja's weapon, the most ahead of its time but the most slept on. Its a real hybrid, you can use it as a controller or standalone or you can use both at the same time. It samples straight from the USB so you can sample anything off the net or DAWs without an interface.

The box is a beast but limiting too. Timestretch sucks and there is no pitch tune of any kind, but I think they expect you to timestretch on a DAW to add that hybrid combo. Its 8 polyphony max but it can be overcome. D Beam is dope for crazy synth sounds, its like Nym's invention in a way. 4 track sequencer, people hate that but its only 8 poly anyway.

I'm currently using one to craft my new album. Its a little challenge to do everything in the box but the result is worth it. The sound is so ****' crunchy, every drum break sounds like kung fu theater with the neck snappin' snares, dancing of the high hats and the punch of the kicks.

I'm using it with a Numark NDX400 to provide pitch tuning. Everything else is doable in the 606. They only take 512MB cf and thats the maximum but thats 6 hours of sample time homeboy.

Enjoy it and overlook its simplicity, I know heads that use it with Ableton to bang out the drum racks.

^ that's what I mean, I knew ill green would have something to say on the topic.. haha

I was talking with him about that unit a while back and it has me wanting to get one for my VCR... do the pitching in there and sample back to the 606... but who knows. I got real busy and we'll see if I get time to set up that type of rig. Man lately I have been neglecting the need to start a back up of my database so that comes first... until then I been using nothing but the 2000 classic studio and a record player..

4 track sequencer huh? that is kinda limiting, i think it would still be sick though, i dont use pitch very often... **** i just remembered i usually pitch my kicks on every beat... whatever, its still a funciton i could live without, what about alternate loop mode like the jjos has? thats the real deal breaker for me.

we can, but we need to start a 606 one too, so we can support our gear junkie habit.

I had one and no pitch control of samples is why I got rid of it.

from what i gather "micro mode" is kinda like step edit on the mpc correct?

also, anyone know about an alternate loop mode type feature?
