Record and Playback Multiple MIDI Channels

I just started getting into using software more for my productions.

However I'm having some difficulty with getting all the MIDI stuff straightened out.

I was wondering how, or if it's possible, to record and playback multiple MIDI channels within Pro Tools. I've done this before with an external sound module and figured it'd be the same kind of set up with Pro Tools as well.

So, I have all my MIDI connections made, all my MIDI channels assigned in Pro Tools (i.e. MIDI channel 1, 2, 3, 4 all respectively set in my MPC as well...... 1, 2, 3, 4).

I click record enable on one of the tracks, and that specific MIDI channel is recieving the information.

But, when I record enable all of the MIDI tracks - trying to record the MIDI information all at once into Pro Tools - only the track on my MPC which is currently selected plays all the MIDI information from all the channels. (I have a kick on one channel, a snare on another, a clap on another and a ride on the last). Therein, when my kick track is selected and press play, only the kick plays, but on all four MIDI channel.......this happens when I change the track to my snare and so forth.

I don't want to have to record each track individually, for I've never liked that process.

Any suggestions?

Im having the same ssue. i have been working on ti for a few days now. if i figure it out, i will post. i was hoping some of the MPC gurus would chime in.
everything i need it to do, it has done but this is the issue the is keeping me from having a seemless work flow.
