Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hello. I am trying to bring a song.all file into my cubase 5 but it is not triggering any sounds on the midi track in my cubase project. The midi connection is working and the monitor is configured properly because I can use the pads to trigger midi sounds on my computer so I am assuming that the the song sequences were recorded on drum tracks as opposed to midi. What is the best way to change that as I would prefer to work with the sounds in my VSTs? Could I do this using the convert to sequence feature?

Fail.

ALL is akai mpc only. It is not for cubase, logic, ableton, none of that.
Instead of ALL save the sequence as MID, you have a choice of MID0 or MID1, figure out which you need and roll from there. And so you know that SEQ u save is ONLY performance data, NOT sound/audio.

Thank you Mr. Dog, I have made some progress but still don't have what I want. I'm going to record the stereo audio file generated by the mpc using the mpc sound map (ambience 1) he used as a benchmark and play around with instruments and maps in cubase using the midi sequence until I get something better. I've got time.
Thanks again.
Next challenge syncing the midi and the audio, another opportunity to learn a little.

I think that MID sequence file will help get you where you wanna be. You'll still the samples and program that the MID file is trying to play from of course, that is where ur sound and pad assignments come from.

I sequence on mpc so I can't help with the cubase part. :(
