I'm eagerly awaiting the release too. My $ is ready,my desk has room for it. Though I won't be dropping any money on it,unless it fits in my workflow. The option for transport controls while the ren is a plugin will make or break this product for me.
If not I'll stick with my daws with Maschine and the 2500.

I'll be watching very close to see what happens for those who get it first..

Post some pics/video's

This is NOT coming out June 18th... sorry to say.

The AKAI website would have the date plastered all over and attempting to hype it up much more before the release.

August seems a better bet.

Life's too short to be thinking about the Renaissance. What you guys need is a Renaissance of the mind, and relearn what you have now. Use your toes to play the pads, your chin to spin the jogwheel and record a sequence with yours nuts in an ice bowl. Only then, will the Renaissance emerge.

Iphone/Nanostudio= The Newest MPC KILLER

Sold all my hardware--MPC-, racks, synths, and never looked back. Using this along with the line 6 midi mobilizer and hook my iphone w/ the nanostudio app to play my 88 key midi keyboard while recording on nanostudio. OR i use my synthstation for BEATS ON THE ROAD.

Used apple ipod touch $100.00

Nanostudio App- $15.00

NanoStudio is a recording studio for iPhone/iPod Touch. It has virtual analogue synths, sample trigger pads, a comprehensive sequencer, a sample editor, a mixer and multiple effects all integrated into a single application.

Akai Synthstation- $63.00
http://cgi.ebay.com/Akai-Synthstation25 ... 20bb37f612

A Grand Total of $178.00 will get you an app that does damn near EVERYTHING ALL MPC's / Motif/ Fruity Loops/ Beat Thang does for a fraction of the cost.

Internet connection to download samples.

Just out of curiosity... why will it be a make or break?

I use a Steinberg controller for transport controls in Cubase, so I know the value of having some dedicated hardware, but if I didn't I'd probably just set them up on my qwerty keyboard.

I can't wait to hear about all the bugs from whom ever buys it. I've learned my lesson. I'm gonna wait and sit this one out until I hear all the reviews. 8)

Those of us that plan on buying the Ren will write numerous reviews and first impressions of these new MPCs. This includes any bugs we find. None of the leading DAWs on the market to include products like Maschine and Spark are bug free. The highly regarded JJ OS is not bug free. The staying power of the MPC Ren will depend on how fast Akai releases software updates to correct any issues as well as incorporate new features.

I'm wondering if Akai is trying to pull an Apple stunt in keeping the release date under wraps until the 12th hour. Remember when they first debuted the new line of products the website had a countdown clock for each of the 3 new products. 40 hour countdown or something similar. By not giving an exact release date as of yet, we're doing exactly what they want us to do, speculate and search the net which keeps buzz up and increases their web hits. The joke would be on them if we all decided not to purchase due to them not giving us a release date, but i'm sure someone (me) would give in and purchase lol...
