MPC 1K + X0XB0X (for bass?)

Wondering if anyone around here has tried this out. For some reason I just cannot create any bass lines that I like, the sound is always off. Maybe one day I'll stumble onto a way to make some thick bass on the MPC but I started thinkin' about the X0XB0X again and how great it sounds. When not used for "acid", it's quite a funky bass player!

Any headache/heartbreak when getting the MPC 1K and the X0XB0X to work together? Seems like a pretty simple job... but you just never know with these electronic boxes. Shit sometimes doesn't work as well as ya thought it would!

it will work perfectly and immediately out of the box. either sync the x0x to the mpc, or what i do is program lines on teh x0x, record them into the mpc, then use the recorded seq to play the x0x back (midi).

however, this is probably going to limit you to acid-type basslines. i would not get a x0xb0x thinking it is going to be a versatile bass synth. what it does, it does wonderfully, but it's definitely not to be used as your only bass, unless you are doing only acid / oldschool dance.

of course i use a x0x as my only synth in a pop band i work for and it does surprisingly well...so just do what you want and put in the work to freak it to your liking. it definitely does not do sustained notes very well, without some modding or clever programming, so it's really suited for punchy, staccatto bass.

sounds like x0x - you'd be perfectly fine with this.

one cool thing is that by playing the x0x using midi on the mpc and the pads, you get very uncharacteristic patterns with that very recognisable sound.

for example you can play slides and accents in real time which makes for a very different 303-ish experience. the note lengths being variable also makes a huge difference.

Kick ass! Always dreamt of teaming a X0X up with my Machinedrum but I sold the latter... now I just have an OP-1 and an MPC 1000. Thinkin' a X0X would be really cool for some "funky" electronic sounding stuff... plus the stereotypical acid stuff when I get in the mood.

OP1 + MPC 1000 + X0X sounds like a fun desktop sound jungle.

i had a x0xb0x for about a year before i ended up selling it and making a $200 profit in the process... what can i say other than i really needed the money at that point... the x0x is pretty easy to control with an MPC and it's hands down the best emulated tb-303 i've ever heard... i did end up buying a FREEBASS FB-383 for cheap after selling the x0x though... so at least i still have some form of hardware emulation of the 303... it sounds good but nowhere near as nice as the x0xb0x... i've also noticed the assembled x0xb0xes selling for much cheaper on ebay than they used to... it's probably the best time ever to get one.

you can get some nice square wave, non acid bass from 303s (i have the oakley tm303).
