Ok, only having this 5k for a few, this seems like a visual bug. If someone knows that this is not a common 5K occurrance, just let me know. Anyways, here it is (someone may have mentioned this already, but havent see a post on this recently):

- Make a track with just drums. A track for a hat, snare, kick, and fill (could really be anything, just make sure 4 diff tracks).
- Go into the pad mute window by track.
- Play the sequence, and now a down beat or whenever, drop out all the drum tracks at the same time using four fingers.
- You will see such a laggy response from each pad trying to mute itself on the screen. A fix of course is put in a mute group, but sometimes I may want to mute just a hat, or snare, and not commit to a group.

Does anyone have a fix for this or know if this is a known issue already?

Most important: does the sound mute instantly? On my 5000 the sound mutes instantly when I press multiple pads. The graphics does have lag, but when I time it right I can get three pads to graphically mute without lag with one hand.

I have attention to detail, but this I never really noticed or cared for. Maybe it's time to enjoy the 5000 if it's anyhow possible?

I'm a bit neurotic with something I spend 2gs on. Especially when I didn't buy an extended warranty (30 days to exchange/return). So if some of these things are specific to this machine in front of me, I really need to know asap if you know what I mean.

Lag on the 5000 is unfortunately common...
I use the track mute function all the time, The GUI ( graphics) might lag but the sound cut when I press the mute.
Lag will be more noticeable if you run big sequences with lots of tracks, effects, fast tempos projects, things like that.

But first thing first, always trust your ear and not what you see on the screen, you make music not movies !

Yea, I definitely feel you on that, without question. My whole thing is, being this MPC5000 was a new purchase for me (and a very big spend at that), it replaced my 2500 (sold it to get money for the 5k), and to have graphic latency with pad mutes, and major latency when auditioning samples, you feel a little let down when you think you just purchased the best MPC out there. This unit should be better than its predecessors in every way (speed, features, bugs, etc.) But I have found that the 5k is actually inferior in a handful of ways (unacceptable for this amount of money). Take for example recording pad mutes. On the 2500 if you recorded your pad mutes and did not like the way that take came, no problem just press rec and playstart, and your overwriting your original pad muting progression with a new one. But on the 5k, there is no overwriting feature. Even if you press rec and playstart, you cant just replace the recording. It will overdub regardless (makes no sense). Then the biggest kick in the a$$ in the end, is the only way to rid of the original pad mutes, is to go into each and every track, and delete every tracks 'trk mute' events within the step edit function. This is just one example of a very unacceptable downfall to the unit that's supposed to be top dogg.

Fel, if you know work around to this, please, I am ALL EARS lol.
