Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hello.
I have an mpc2000 with 32MB, 8 ins & outs and a Jazz drive.
What i want to do is get my computer fixed with pro tools etc, and get
a hardware compressor and maybe some other fun hardware units,
but the question is WHAT?

What is a good, but cheap pro tools package?
How would i use it with the compressor and the MPC?
This may seem stupid, but i've only used the mpc so far, and i would really like to get my hands on a studio like i've seen pix of on the forum.

Could someone help?
cheers

OK.
I use a MPC3000 and Digidesign's Digi001 w/ PTLE.
That's a nice package...8 audio channels of in and out and midi in/out. however, they don't make the Digi001 anymore. You can find them cheap on eBay now. But do you want an older, obsolete tool? Newer software will not work with it.

Then there is the MBox. It's about $5-600. It has 2 audio channels in/out and no midi. It sounds beautiful.

You can even go with the Audiomedia 3 card and get 2 channels of audio and no midi for almost $100. But it too is obsolete. Newer software will not work with it.

Those are you cheap options.

Hardware compresser? The monster is the FMR Really Nice Compresser (RNC) Only $200!!!!

Peace and good luck.
