Just got an MPC 500

Yo!

I got an MPC 500 now. I used to have the XL if some of you remember but after a pretty drastic studio change up I now have the 500.

It's only got the 16mb but I think this will be fine because I plan to mainly use the unit for drum sounds.

Haven't fired it up yet, but I have the manual and I know pretty much how it works due to my experience with the XL.

Just thought I'd say hi, and I'm back!

love yer micro setup and what you do with those qy's. those things have pretty standard soundsets, yea?
be cool to hear those bread+butter sounds offset with some samples.

I actually had been using a yamaha MO6 and it's sounds were not much better than a QY, plus the QY700 is a lot better for sequencing, it's got a piano roll, dotted notes, dedicated buttons for changing note types as well as dynamics, plus it displays what notes are playing on a little graphical keyboard on the screen. The MO6 can't really touch that.

I got rid of a grip of stuff in order to have the 500 and an old 90's korg digital piano with really sweet sounds in it. I had this electronic drum kit that i just didn't really get into, and some rack samplers... i just needed the space physically and headspace wise.

anyway, the 500 now has 12 vintage drum machine kits that are saved to the flash, and are there instant on boot up.

now I got to figure out how to delete that horrible 'Top-Gun' sequence from showing up everytime i boot.
