Which computer software has time stretch??

Happy Halloween everybody!

I was considered buying the MPC 1000 instead of the MPC 2000XL but I really like the time stretch feature of the 2000. If I purchased the 1000, what computer programs could I use for time stretch (without affecting the key)

cool edit pro does. but the slower you make a sample the choppier it sounds. not sure how it sounds when you speed it up though.

Ableton Live has pretty smooth timestrech. It may be a bit too much just to timestrech a sample.

I think if you are going to do alot of time stretching, I would invest in ableton live 4 or melodyne. Ableton for loops and melodyne for vocals.

the 2 are in the mid $300 but they are worth it .

soundforge, wavelab, acid 4.0, recycle (not really timestretch, it cuts up samples to make them go with the tempo in little pieces) and what these cats said.

Audacity - http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ - has timestretch, which they call "Change Tempo". I haven't done any A/B comparisons yet, but you can, because it's free software.

Nuendo has the best timestretching I've ever used on the computer. Out of all of the one's named I've never used Melodyne or Audacity, but other than those Nuendo is killing the rest.

the easiest (maybe not the best) in my opinion is acid 4. pretty expense but load the sample to a track, change the tempo and save.

Hey bro, does Nuendo's time stretch in realtime (or at least give a realtime preview)?... The best time-stretch plug-in I’ve found is by Waves...the quality is amazing but you can’t do realtime stretching (hate guessing!..too time consuming)... I found this dope software called Magix audio cleaning lab which does do realtime time and pitch stretching in a preview type mode, then you can choose to process it at higher quality, however the end result still doesn't compare to this waves plug-in I’m using...

acid is hot but its inaccurate alot of the times. u really have to go through bar by bar with the beatmapper. Abletons stretch is aight but over ten high or low it gets real wack. i dont use a lot of timestretch though. i like to get a pitch set when i sample and i will cut it up to make it go on time.

cool edit pro is good to use when time stretching...you can also change the pitch or preserve it when you speed up or slow down a sample

Acid seems to work best for stretching without too many artifacts...
