Difference between timestretch software compared to MPC2000?

Hello all,

Is there a difference in the quality of the sample that you've timestretched using Cool Edit or other software on the computer as opposed to just using the timestretch function on the MPC2000?

Are there pro's and con's to either?? I'm still undecided as to whether to purchase the MPC 1000 or the 2000XL and the timestretch function seems to be the big difference for me

theres no timestretch on the 2000. thats on the 2000xl

Like with editing, timestretching on a computer is quicker than in the MPC partly because you have the bigger screen to work on. Real-time time stretching software like Ableton Live is easier & more reliable than on the MPC or rack samplers, because you don't have to wait for the result. You stick your sample in, change the tempo & it happens instantly.

Not sure if there is any difference other than time in processing. I use Soundforge and it does it instantly. I hear it takes a while on the XL

yeh thats my thing to. i been using ableton for loops. leaves the mpc's timestretching for dead on high quality stereo samples, in speed and flexibility. plus mpc for drums and bass. its a good work flow. thought abletons tempo fluctuates when slaved to the mpc via midi clock? i think its just my shitty soundcard telling me to trash it.
