quick question for mpc500 owners:

What is the minimum velocity setting when using the "Pad sensitivity" parameter? Is it possible to get a pad to send a constant velocity value somewhere between 0-20 regardless of how hard it is pressed?

4. Select the 'Pad Sensitivity' field and adjust the pad sensitivity number as you hit the Pad.
If the Pad sensitivity number is set to a low value, it’s harder to get a high velocity value even if you hit the Pad hard. If the Pad sensitivity
number is set to a high value, it may become too easy to get high velocities even when hitting the Pad softly.
5. Select the 'Velocity curve' field and adjust the Velocity curve while hitting the Pad.
The velocity curve maps the strength of hitting the Pad to MIDI velocity data. If the Velocity response is not enough even with a range
hard/soft Pad hits, try switching the velocity curve from A-B-C-D.

Use full level and set the velocity you want for the pad in the program.

If I understand what you mean correctly, This is what I do.

Record with the Full Level and then go into Mode>Program and adjust the volume of the sample to the level you want.

I just want to know if on the MPC500, I can the Pad Sensitivity parameter(reference manual page 105), be used to play the pads a constant velocity value lower than 20?

In other words:
If by pressing FULL LEVEL key, the machine tells itself: "every velocity value is now 127"; then can I use the Pad Sensitivity parameter to have the machine tell itselfL "every velocity is now 10"?

think I just got my answer, in the mpc1000 manual describes the same parameter... minimum pad sensitivity is 1, and response curve D probably helps get those values a bit more constant but it does not seem possible to get the situation I described.

In your other thread, Ill Green recommended the MPC 500 because the pads are ridiculously stiff I think, not because the OS will let you do something your current MP won't.
